meeting of November 8 when the government had said to have taken the decision
to withdraw Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 notes.
In his address at the 'Jan Vedna' conclave, Singh termed
demonetisation as a "disaster" and said things are going from bad to
worse and that the worse is yet to come. He dismissed as "hollow
claim" of Prime Minister Narendra "Modi's propaganda" that
things have started looking up.

The former Prime Minister said it was the "solemn
duty" of all Congress men to tell the people the wrongs that have been
done by Modi and that a "clarion call" should be given to the
countrymen to "awake and rise" up in protest.
Both Singh and Chidambaram said there would be decline in
the country's gross domestic product (GDP) because of demonetisation.
Chidambaram, in his address, said there is no record of the
cabinet meeting of November 8.
"Where is the cabinet note? Where is the cabinet
decision?" he asked.
Chidambaram said that never before in India's history such a
farce has been enacted. The former finance minister also said that the
reputation of RBI is at risk today.
The government and the central bank generally have differences
but never before a government has treated RBI like a department of the
government of India, he added.
He said that even one per cent decline in GDP will lead to a
loss of Rs 1.5 lakh crore to the country. He said every challenge thrown by
Modi government should be matched by the Congress with utmost courage and
utmost wisdom.

"Only Congress party can stand up to this
(challenge)." The party also issued a statement at the convention that the
Prime Minister must reveal what percentage of the demonetised currency notes

singularly failed in fulfilling his promises of retrieving the unaccounted

assured of a thorough probe into his allegations.
A high-level enquiry is underway as the BSF has taken the
allegations leveled by the constable very seriously.
"However, prima facie it was found that no other jawan
deployed at the same place had any problem with the quality of food being
served to them," IG BSF DK Upadhyaya told reporters here.
The IG said DIG level officers who visited the camp earlier
had never received any complaint similar to the allegations raised by Constable
Tej Bahadur Yadav.
"Even Yadav never raised any complaint earlier when the
DIG went to the post," he said.
He said the constable has been a habitual offender and was
court-martialed in 2010 for indiscipline and pointing a gun at a senior
officer.
"It is reality. He has many complaints against him
including intoxication, insubordination, aiming a gun at a senior officer. He
was court-martialed in 2010. But keeping in view his family and his children,
he was not dismissed from the service but was given a rigorous imprisonment of
89 days," the IG said.
Upadhyaya said Yadav has applied for a voluntary retirement
from the force and was to leave the services on January 31. Regarding the
allegations leveled by Yadav in his videos, the IG BSF said the quality of the
food was same for the officers and jawans deployed on forward posts.
"The BSF itself purchases ration for its force deployed
on the International Border, but for the deployment on the Line of Control, the
ration is supplied by the army and nobody has ever complained about the quality
of the food either on LoC or the IB," the IG said.
He said that as the winter stocking started from January 1,
the jawans do not get fresh vegetables as the force rely mostly on tinned food
and there has been no complaint against it.
"That too is a time-tested method and the quality of
the ration from army is also good. The jawans get vegetarian as well as
non-vegetarian food as per their liking," he said.
The IG said that to ensure that an impartial inquiry is
conducted into the entire episode, Yadav has been shifted from his
headquarters. "He has been shifted to another headquarter to ensure that
an impartial inquiry is conducted and that he does not complain of being
pressurized. "The prima facie inquiry conducted reveal that no other jawan
deployed at the same place had any complaint about the quality of the food and
they were quite satisfied with it," he said.
The officer said that a thorough probe will be conducted and
the aspect of Yadav taking a mobile phone at the forward post will also be
probed.
"The jawans are not allowed to take mobile phone when
on duty on the forward posts and the same has to be deposited before going on
duty. This aspect as how he took mobile phone along with him would also be
inquired," the IGP said.
Yadav's videos posted on his Facebook page allegedly showing
poor quality food being served to jawans had yesterday gone viral, forcing Home
Minister Rajnath Singh to order an inquiry into the entire episode.

Rajnath Singh ji or I regularly enquire about the welfare of jawans while visiting the border posts. We found our jawans satisfied with the facilities but strong action will be taken if any anomaly is found.
Google CEO Sundar Pichai visited his alma mater IIT-Kharagpur after 23 years. Pichai is currently in India on a work and personal visit. The Google CEO had earlier announced the DigitalUnlocked programme to help small and medium enterprises in India go online.
At IIT-Kharagpur, Pichai answered questions from students at an open-air theatre in the campus. The Google CEO discussed his life on campus in an event titled ‘A journey back to the past to inspire the future’. The event, which was attended by over 3,500 students, was streamed live by Google on YouTube.
Sundar Pichai noted it was an amazing four years for him at IIT-Kharagpur. “It been phenomenal to come back,”he said. Pichai met his wife Anjali at the IIT campus. He pointed out how difficult it was to call girls from their hostels when there were no smartphones.
“I met Anjali at IIT-K and she was my classmate. Just to go get someone at the girl’s hostel, you had to walk in the front and request someone to call them. And they’d go in and loudly say – Anjali, Sundar is here. It wasn’t exactly a pleasant experience,” he said.
On asked how have things changed in terms of technology, he said the rate of which things have been progressing in India is phenomenal. “We didn’t have phones back then. I remember waiting for a long time to get a rotary phone at home. Didn’t have access to computers growing up. Clearly the progress has been phenomenal.” the Google CEO said.
Recalling a funny anecdote from his college days where he called someone Abey Saale. “As a freshman, couple of weeks into being here I came from Chennai. I had learnt Hindi in school but never spoke much. Just listening to other people, I thought that’s how you address people. One day there was someone in the mess, and I had to call him, and I called him Abey Saale. In my first couple of weeks I thought you call people that way. Next thing, I know folks in the mess were quite upset, and they closed down the mess temporarily.”
“I interviewed at Google on April 1, 2004, which is April Fool’s Day. Google had just announced Gmail and it was invite-only. But people weren’t exactly sure if it was a April Fool’s joke. So, I remember doing my interviews during the day and people kept asking me what do you think of Gmail, but I didn’t have a chance to use it and I thought it was a April Fool’s joke,” Pichai said.
“My first three interviews, I couldn’t answer well because I hadn’t used the product. In my fourth interview when someone asked me have you seen Gmail and I said no, he actually showed me the product. And then the fifth interviewer asked what do you think of Gmail and I was able to answer then,” he added.
In a rapid fire round, Pichai was asked how he spends his free time. He replied that he likes to spend time with his children who are 13 and 9 years old, and that he loves watching cricket and football as well.
Another student asked what his GPA was at IIT. The Google CEO replied to this question on a lighter note saying he was too embarrassed to admit his first year’s GPA, but that he did much better in the last three years. Pichai also revealed that Infosys founder Narayana Murthy was his ideal during his college days. “I admire people like that who put India on the map,” he said. He added that he loved watching Tendulkar play.
Next Pichai was asked about his favourite Bollowood actress, to which he replied it would be Deepika Padukone. A student asked Pichai what she’d have to do to replace him. “I’d tell her Be careful what you wish for, but happy to discuss over a cup of chaai,” he said. The function ended with a selfie with everyone.
Today at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas Honda showed a system it calls “Riding Assist Technology” which could assist riders in balancing bikes in the difficult low speed range below 3 mph. Nothing was said about when or even if such a system might appear in showrooms.
One video shows a bike sitting still with a rider aboard, self-balancing via fairly rapid steering inputs.
Another video reveals that levers move the front wheel and fork legs forward while keeping the steering pivot in its normal location, evidently giving the system increased leverage by which to affect balance.
Obviously, a fairly powerful steer actuator is used. In a third video, a smiling woman operates a switch atop the front fender (the motorcycle clearly has NC700-style inclined cylinders and an exhaust pipe), whereupon the machine, which has been self-balancing on a turntable, begins to follow her at walking pace through a building. This tells us that for demonstration purposes, the motorcycle is equipped with an electric drive and means of following a person or a specified course.

Honda has long had a department whose job it is to devise technologies such as the Asimo series of human-shaped robots, and the Uni-Cub mobility scooter, whose balance algorithms are said to be the basis of those used by Honda Riding Assist Technology (shall we call this “H-RAT”?).
In still photos, a similar machine is shown fitted with clamped-on support tripods on either side, intended to support the bike if the self-balancing system should lose power.
Unsaid in all of this is the implication that a machine equipped in this fashion has some attributes of an autonomous motorcycle. The urban owner of such a machine could notionally summon it from a garage when wanted, and send it back for secure storage after riding. Much more technology would clearly be required, as currently fitted to “driver assist” autos – obstacle detection, lane-keeping ability, and so on.

सतीश राजवाडेची कथा आणि दिग्दर्शन असलेला 'ती सध्या काय करते?' हा सिनेमा बघताना हा प्रश्न प्रेक्षकांच्या मनात नक्कीच उभा राहील. कारण त्यातल्या तन्वी आणि मन्यात प्रत्येकजण आपल्यालाच पाहील! तन्वी-अन्याची (लहानपणचे निर्मोही अग्निहोत्री आणि हृदीत्य राजवाडे, पौगंडावस्थेतले आर्या आंबेकर आणि अभिनव बेर्डे, मोठेपणीचे तेजश्री प्रधान आणि अंकुश चौधरी) गोष्ट सुरू होते, ते दोघे शाळेत असल्यापासून. सोसायटीत एकमेकांबरोबर खेळणं, एकमेकांच्या घरी जाणं, एकमेकांची काळजी करणं, एकमेकांसाठी सारं सारं काही कारणं... या नात्याला कधी कुणी काही नाव देत नाही. कुणी कधी व्यक्तही होत नाही. पण असतं, ते प्रेमच! पण चालता चालता मध्येच एखाद्या दगडाला ठेचकाळावं, तसं क्वचित कधी नात्यांत येतो अडथळा. समज-गैरसमजांचा. अन् काही सांगण्या-उमजण्या आधीच दोन जीव होतात वेगळे कायमचे...
मग वर्षं सरतात. लग्न होतं. मुलंबाळं होतात... समांतरपणे सगळ्यांचं आयुष्य चालत राहतं. आणि एक दिवस कुणी तरी फंडा लढवतं - अनेक वर्षांनी जुन्या क्लासमेट्सनी भेटण्याचं! अशा भेटीत हटकून कुणाकुणाच्या घडल्या-बिघडलेल्या जोड्यांची आठवण काढली जाते. हा सारा खेळीमेळीचाच मामला असतो. प्रत्येकजण आयुष्यात खूप पुढे गेलेला असतो. मात्र बालपणीचे ते दिवस का विसरतं कुणी? खोल कप्प्यात दडवलेले असतातच ते प्रत्येकाने मनी! त्यातच असते एक पहिल्या प्रेमाची आठवण, प्रत्येकाची आयुष्यभराची साठवण... या पार्श्वभूमीवर तन्वी आणि अन्या पुन्हा भेटले का, लहानपणी एकत्र घालवलेले ते क्षण त्यांनी पुन्हा जागवले का, ते अनुभवण्यासाठी तुम्हाला सिनेमाच पाहावा लागेल!
मात्र खरंच पाहा सिनेमा, छान फ्रेश वाटेल. आपलंच आपल्याला कुणीतरी नव्याने गवसेल. कारण सतीशने याही सिनेमाची हाताळणी नेहमीसारखीच हलकीफुलकी नि साधीसोपी ठेवलीय. जे घडतंय ते आपलं नि आपल्या आजूबाजूचं वाटावं, इतकी सहज. त्यामुळे सिनेमा पाहताना आपण रंगून जातो. त्यातल्या वातावरणात हरवून जातो. कारण हा सिनेमा वेगवेगळ्या पातळ्यांवर प्रेक्षकांना आपल्याशी जोडून घेतो. म्हणजे बालपणीच्या आठवणी जागवून तो गतकातर (नॉस्टाल्जिक)करतोच, त्याचबरोबर आज जे स्वतंत्र फ्लॅटमध्ये राहत असतील त्यांना आपल्या जुन्या चाळ-सोसायटी सिस्टीमची आठवण करुन देऊन त्यांचं स्मरणरंजनही करतो. प्रसंगानुरूप सिनेमात आलेली गाणीही मस्त आहेत. हृदयात वाजे समथिंग, परीकथा, जराजरा, कितीदा नव्याने...सगळी गाणी कथानकात मस्त मिसळून गेलीत. आणखी एक महत्त्वाची गोष्ट म्हणजे यातले संवाद. प्रेक्षकांना सिनेमातल्या विषयाशी जोडून घेण्याचं एक मोठं काम यातले संवादही करतात.
या सगळ्या जोडून घेण्याला यातल्या कलाकारांचीही सुरेख साथ लाभलीय. दोन वेण्यांतली शाळा-कॉलेजातली तन्वी अनुक्रमे निर्मोही आणि आर्याने छान रंगवलीय. दोघीही अगदी सहज-सुंदर वाटतात. तेच तेजश्रीचं. लग्न करुन परदेशात सेटल झालेली आणि मनात बालपणीच्या खुणा जपणारी तन्वी तेजश्रीने छान व्यक्त केलीय. विशेषतः अन्याने आपल्या मुलीचं नाव तन्वीच ठेवलंय असं, त्याच्या घरी गेल्यावर कळतं तो प्रसंग. खरंतर तिथेच तिला आपल्या अव्यक्त राहिलेल्या पहिल्या प्रेमाची खूण पटते. या तीनही तन्वीना साथ देणारे तीनही अन्या, म्हणजे अनुराग उत्तमच. अंकुशचा तर प्रश्नच नाही. त्याचा वावर खूप सहज आहे. अभिनय बेर्डेनेही कॉलेजात जाणारा आणि भावनांच्या आंदोलनात सापडलेला अन्या उत्तम रंगवलाय. त्याची आणि आर्याची केमिस्ट्री छान जुळलीय. तरीही लहान अन्या झालेला हृदीत्य राजवाडे सगळ्यात ग्रेट. कारण पहिल्याच नजरानजरेत प्रेमाची झालेली जाणीव, त्या जाणिवेतून मनात उडणारी फुलपाखरं, यातून झालेली तितरबितर अवस्था... आणि तरीही यापल्याड वयाची म्हणून चेहऱ्यावर कायम राहिलेली निरागसता... हृदीत्यने छान दाखवलीय. या मुख्य कलाकारांबरोबर असलेले सर्वच सहकलाकार (सुकन्या कुलकर्णी, संजय मोने, तुषार दळवी, अनुराधा राजाध्यक्ष) आपली भूमिका चोख वठवतात. अन्याची बायको झालेली ऊर्मिला कानेटकर छोट्या अवकाशातही त्या कथानकाशी छान एकजीव होते.
खरंतर ‘ती सध्या काय करते’ या सिनेमाच्या कथेचा जीव अगदी छोटा आहे, पण तो माझ्या-तुमच्या-सगळ्यांच्या जिव्हाळ्याचा आहे आणि सतीशने तेवढ्याच जिव्हाळ्याने बनवला असल्यामुळे, सिनेमा पाहताना आपला जीव अडकतो. फक्त सिनेमा संपल्यावर एक प्रश्न नक्की पडतो- ‘ती सध्या काय करते’ कळलं, ‘तो सध्या काय करतो’ कधी कळणार?
